HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) - A judge sentenced a man to 20 years behind bars in connection with the death of a High Springs man in 2021.

Authorities say Christopher Knight, 21, pleaded no contest to the charge of second-degree murder and was sentenced to two decades behind bars.

High Springs Police Department officers say Knight and possibly others entered the backyard of a home on Northwest 179th Place and attacked a 58-year-old man with a baseball bat. The victim died from his injuries in the hospital.

Investigators identified Knight as a suspect in the murder. At the time of the killing, authorities say, the Patricia Gardens neighborhood had experienced a series of violent incidents, including shootings and burglaries committed by a group involving Knight.

Despite Knight’s conviction, officers continue to investigate the case to identify anyone else involved in the killing.
