Alachua County gun violence prevention task force recovers hundreds of firearms

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County deputies say they’ve taken hundreds of illegal guns since launching their gun violence prevention task force.

Since starting in January of 2024, deputies say they’ve recovered 408 firearms. Fifty-eight of those were in the past six months.

Deputies say the majority of stolen guns are taken from parked cars.
