Neighbors share chilling details about so called ‘murder house’ in Dunnellon
DUNNELLON, Fla. (WCJB) - A Dunnellon man is accused of killing his father and burying the body in the backyard, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives began investigating May 16 after family members reported 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada missing, saying they had not heard from him in more than a week, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators said they quickly grew concerned about foul play and obtained a search warrant for the property.
During the search, detectives found freshly disturbed dirt in the backyard and later discovered human remains, which were identified as Bahamon-Prada, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives also recovered evidence of blood inside the home, officials said.
The victim’s son, 25-year-old Andres Bahamon, was identified as the primary suspect and was initially arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence while the investigation continued.

According to investigators, Bahamon later admitted to killing his father. Deputies said he told detectives he believed his father was “trying to link up with satanic people” and attempting to kill him.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials said the suspect will remain in custody and poses no threat to the community.
“Due to the nature of these charges, and the severity of them, a judge said he is not going to be able to bond out of our jail,” said Zach Moore, a public information officer for the sheriff’s office. “So, at this point, we have a very solid case, plenty of evidence, admission from himself, so it’s likely he is going to spend a lot of time in prison.”
While investigators focused on the current homicide, neighbors said the property has a history of violence.
Several residents told reporters the home has long been referred to as the “murder house” because of a separate homicide investigation at the same address in 2009 — a case the sheriff’s office confirmed.
According to the press release of the incident back in 2009, Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged Zachary Snyder, 19, with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Doris Babcock, 66, of Dunnellon.
Deputies responded after her husband, Cecil Babcock, reported he had not been able to reach her; he last spoke with her the morning of Nov. 13, 2009.
During a well-being check late Nov. 14, deputies found Snyder inside the home, where they saw signs of blood and foul play and later located Doris Babcock’s vehicle in the backyard.
Deputies said Snyder had six of Babcock’s credit/debit cards and was initially arrested on theft and probation-violation charges; investigators later reported finding human remains in a burn pit on the property that the medical examiner identified as Babcock.
Sheriff’s office officials said neither the victim nor the suspect had a significant criminal history and there had been no previous reports to law enforcement about problems between the two.
Bahamon remains in the Marion County Jail without bond, facing a charge of second-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office.
