Man accused of making threats at a Gainesville Burger King arrested
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A suspect accused of making threats at a Gainesville Burger King on Saturday evening has been located and arrested by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, according to Gainesville police.
Timothy Jordan, 34, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault around 2a.m. Sunday. He is being held in the Alachua County Jail without bond.
Officers responded around 6:10 p.m. to the Burger King at 6123 W. Newberry Road after receiving reports of a suspicious person Saturday evening. While en route, officers learned Jordan was allegedly armed and making threats to harm people inside the restaurant.
According to one employee’s recount, Jordan walked into the establishment and screamed, “God is trying to stop me from doing something crazy to y’all,” grabbing a black handgun from his waist.
Jordan told officers he was talking to his sister on the phone and didn’t intend to threaten anyone in the Burger King.
Authorities initially believed Jordan barricaded himself inside a restroom. Officers from the Gainesville Police Department, assisted by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a thorough search of the restaurant but did not locate him.
Law enforcement agencies continued searching the area before locating and arresting Jordan elsewhere in Alachua County.
No injuries were reported.
