Hundreds attend third annual Williston Watermelon Festival
WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB) - Hundreds of people attended the third annual Williston Watermelon Festival on Saturday.
More than a hundred vendors set up at Heritage Park. The event featured watermelon, arts and crafts, live music, food trucks and other activities.
Organizers said the event is important to North Central Florida, which is home to many watermelon farmers.
“To me it makes it special because I started this three years ago. My dad actually grows watermelons in Levy County so it was kind of a way to honor the farmers in our community but also honor my dad and all the hard work that he puts into it,” said Hope Surles, organizer.
Admission was free and attendees received free slices of watermelon.
