Live music and dad jokes: Swamp Head hosts first ‘Father’s Day Fest’
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Swamp Head Brewery turned Father’s Day into a full afternoon of live music, lawn seating and family time with its first-ever ‘Grateful Dad’ Father’s Day Fest — a free, all-ages event organizers said they plan to bring back next year.
While families across the area spent the day honoring dads in different ways, Swamp Head offered a laid-back celebration aimed at the classic Father’s Day interests: music, beer and sports — plus plenty of room to relax outside.
Guests spread out across the lawn with blankets, folding chairs and umbrellas as local bands played throughout the afternoon, keeping the atmosphere upbeat and community focused.
The festival was designed to be welcoming for families, with food available on site and space for people of all ages to enjoy the entertainment.
Organizers said the goal was simple: bring people together to celebrate fathers, father figures and anyone who appreciates good music and a neighborhood gathering.
“It’s music, its beer, it’s sports. We really just wanna celebrate dad’s things that dad’s love,” said Lance Lenox, the brewery’s events coordinator. “It’s a day to celebrate dads and their hard work for us so we wanted them to be able to chill out.”
Between sets, families mingled, children played nearby and groups chatted in the shade, creating the feel of a casual backyard party with a concert soundtrack.
And in true Father’s Day fashion, the dad jokes were part of the entertainment — with plenty of familiar one-liners floating through the crowd as easily as the drinks.
Organizers said the strong community response to the brewery’s first Father’s Day festival made it clear this is something people want more of.
Lenox said the enthusiasm from attendees helped confirm the idea is worth repeating.
Swamp Head plans to bring the ‘Grateful Dad’ Father’s Day Fest back next year, giving families another chance to celebrate the holiday with live music and a community gathering.
