Gainesville cyclist killed after hit-and-run in Putnam County; FHP investigates

PALATKA, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the hit-and-run crash that left a cyclist dead Monday night in Putnam County.
A 27- year-old Gainesville woman was killed after being hit by a 35-year-old man driving a 2020 Kia Forte.
The driver of the Kia Forte was traveling westbound on St. Johns Avenue, when he swerved into the left side of the road, colliding with the cyclist. The motorist ran away from the scene on foot.
The cyclist died from her injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol asks that if you have any information about the crash or the driver, to call them.
