You can help hot dogs chill out with Doggy Day Out program
Williston Animal Group has found ways to beat the heat until air-conditioned kennels are built
WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB) - This summer heat is a lot for all of us, especially those with fur!
The Williston Animal Group dog shelter’s kennels are outdoors, and Vice President Cheri Jenkins says plans are in the works to build climate-controlled kennels.
But in the meantime, the volunteer-based team has found ways to keep the dogs comfortable in Florida’s scorching climate, like fans, swimming pools, doggy ice cream and help from the community.
“You can volunteer many different ways. You can work here at the shelter, we also have a program called Doggy Day Out where you can come take a dog, we’ll match you with the activity you want to do with a dog that’s appropriate for that, and then you can take them out on an outing,” Jenkins says.
Details on how to lend a helping hand are on the WAG website.
