GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say a burglary suspect arrested after a vehicle chase and wreck now faces charges related to an armed robbery at a gas station.

Court records show Mikale Fuye, 21, was charged with armed robbery on Monday in connection with a gas station robbery that occurred on May 10 southeast of Gainesville.

Sheriff’s deputies say two robbers, one later identified as Fuye, entered the Circle K on Southeast Hawthorne Road and held the employees at gunpoint. They stole money from the register and then ran away.

On May 18, sheriff’s deputies investigated reports of a burglary at a home where $6,000 in cash, gold, and jewelry were stolen.

Security footage showed a suspicious vehicle registered to Fuye. Two days later, deputies spotted Fuye’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Fuye fled the stop, crashed into another vehicle, and veered into a ditch near a playground. Deputies surrounded him and took him into custody.

In his vehicle, deputies found a checkbook belonging to the victims of the home burglary. Deputies say that during a search of his home, they found evidence linking him and his vehicle to the Circle K armed robbery.

Fuye has remained booked into the Alachua County Jail since May 20. No bond has been set.
