TRENTON, Fla. (WCJB) — The trial against a man accused of killing another man at Ginnie Springs has been postponed pending review by an appeals court.

Last month, a Gilchrist County judge rejected a proposed plea agreement from Fisher Watts’ attorneys that would have reduced his second-degree murder charge to manslaughter.

Authorities arrested Fisher Watts for shooting Koty Stewart during a fight on Memorial Day weekend in 2024.

The First District Court of Appeals issued an order granting a motion to review an order from the trial court denying the stay.

Fisher’s brother, Dallas Watts, was also arrested in connection with Stewart’s death. He pleaded no contest to charges of resisting an officer and a weapon offense and was sentenced to five years in prison.
