NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) - Some of the few water buffalo living in America will jump over fire for a rodeo celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

Banjo and Harley are two of the stars featured in Buffalo’s Wild West Revival. When they’re not travelling, the water buffalo live on Triple Cross Ranch in Micanopy.

“We’ve traveled from North Carolina, to Texas, to the southern tip of Florida with them,” said Shane Kuhn, who owns the buffalo and has taken them all over the southern United States. “A lot of people around here haven’t seen him because we’ve taken him to other places far away you know so this is a good chance to get to see him.”

The travelling rodeo was named ‘Best Specialty Act’ by the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association. In addition to buffalo riding, there will be gun and whip shows, trick riding, live music and more.

The shows are at 7 p.m. Friday, July 24 at Williston’s Two Hawk Equestrian Center (click here to purchase tickets) and Saturday, July 25 at Newberry’s Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center (click here to purchase tickets).
