Gainesville youth financial summit draws grades 6-12
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - City leaders in Gainesville hosted the “What’s in Your Bag? Youth Financial Summit” Saturday, inviting students in grades 6 through 12 to learn about financial responsibility.
The event featured keynote speakers, including University of Florida football player Tramell Jones III, who shared financial wisdom with attendees. Organizers offered seminars and activities focused on personal finances.
John Alexander, Director of Government Affairs and Community Relations, said the summit was aimed at preparing young people for financial challenges.
“We’re just trying to educate our community about financial literacy awareness about just being prepared when something happens, putting things away for a rainy day so we are just fortunate to have this opportunity,” Alexander said.
Organizers are encouraging parents to teach their children about finances to promote good spending habits.
