VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - Valdosta Police are investigating an apparent murder, suicide incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

It all unfolded at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to a home in the 500 block of Mack Drive due to receiving a call about someone who was at the home threatening to harm himself, the Valdosta Police Department revealed in a press release late Monday morning.

The caller went on to state that there was possibly “a deceased individual in the house, along with a small child,” according to police.

Moments later, officers arrived on scene, but when they attempted to contact someone inside the home, police said they heard a gunshot.

As a result, authorities immediately forced entry into the home, where they observed an unharmed toddler and then removed the child from the house.
