Charges moving forward against mother after 38-day-old baby dies to meth exposure
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The State Attorney’s Office is approving charges against a mother accused of killing her infant son by exposing him to meth, setting the stage for her criminal trial.
Court records show Rebecca Morris, 36, is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child. Her criminal case comes after the death of her infant son in June. Investigators say the baby died after being exposed to methamphetamine.
Investigators arrested Morris for the death of her 38-day-old son, Josiah. Medical examiners determined the infant died from toxic levels of methamphetamine in his system.
Workers from the Eighth District State Attorney’s Office say Alachua County deputies collected enough evidence to move forward with criminal proceedings.
