Social media brand highlights small food businesses while hosting giveaways in North Central Florida

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - Forty lucky North Central Florida residents are getting free pizzas from Our Place Pizzeria in Lake City as a thank-you for supporting a local social media brand that highlights food businesses in the North Central Florida area.

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, $1,000 worth of free pizza will be given to community members at the event hosted by Food With The Fellas, Our Place Pizza, and Worthmann Roofing & Gutters.

Food with The Fellas LLC is comprised of three men who describe themselves as average fellas who spent the last year going all over North Florida highlighting places on their social media pages.

“It’s been an absolute blessing,” William Cardinal, the Co-Founder, said. “But the heroes are the followers and the small businesses. We’re just some regular old Joes going around with big hearts, just with a camera and some mics eating food.”

They aim to highlight locally owned restaurants, food trucks, farm stands and more.

“We got on Facebook, {and} it really grew. I guess what’s a little bit different is we’re not food critics; we’re not food reviewers; we go highlight local places. Most of your small business owners, from what we’ve learned, they’re so busy just trying to keep the food and the product at a high level and advertising… There’s already a stretch trying to keep decent prices. So it just turned into like this amazing journey and blessing that we’re on.”

They do multiple pay-it-forward events, especially every time they reach 10k new followers.

Their next giveaway will be when they reach 30k followers, and Cardinal tells TV20 they’ll be giving out cash vouchers for Mobley’s Custom Cuts in McAlpin, Florida.
