GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A man from Gilchrist County has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Gainesville for 14 counts of child pornography.

Bryan James Shuping, 58, was arrested for charges of child pornography after taking pictures of minors in a grocery store. When officers searched Shuping’s phone they found nine nude photos of underaged males.

He was also arrested in 2024 after being caught video recording someone using the restroom on campus at the University of Florida.

Today, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida announced his charges: thirteen counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office officials, Shuping’s jury trial will take place on September 2 at 8:30 a.m.

If proven guilty, Shuping faces up to 30 years in prison on the most serious charge.
