Man collapses in Alachua County courtroom, deputies spring into action

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A man suddenly became unconscious in the Alachua County Criminal Courthouse Tuesday morning. Deputies wasted no time in providing the life-saving measures.

Deputies immediately cleared the courtroom before administering CPR. Another deputy brought a defibrillator and began triaging the patient with no success.

With the possibility of the man suffering from a narcotic overdose, deputies administered Narcan nasal spray. The patient opened his eyes, becoming responsive and coherent.

The patient was taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation.
