Trial underway in deadly Citra shooting

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - A trial is underway for a man charged in connection with a deadly 2024 shooting in Citra.

Kenron Vereen, 44, is charged with shooting and killing Sherese Stafford, 33. Jury selection took place Monday, and the trial began Tuesday.

Vereen was arrested in February 2024 after surrendering to authorities in Georgia.

The trial is scheduled to continue Thursday at 8:15 a.m.
