GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County deputies have arrested one of the men accused of turning a Facebook Marketplace gun sale into an armed robbery.

Officials say 18-year-old Dewayne McAllister arranged to buy a gun from a seller through Facebook Marketplace. He met the seller Wednesday in the Holly Heights neighborhood.

Deputies say McAllister went to his car and returned with a gun of his own and two friends. The group allegedly took the gun from the seller and fled the scene.

Investigators said they recognized the name McAllister used on his Facebook account, which led to his arrest.

Deputies say McAllister was also arrested in connection with several previous burglaries.
