LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) — A retiring captain with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was honored for his 41 years of service.

Captain Mike Burroughs, who works with FHP Troop B covering roadways in North Central Florida, marked the milestone as fellow troopers gathered to celebrate alongside him and his family. Troopers took photos with Burroughs and his family and watched him use his radio one last time to sign off.

In 2014, he returned to Lake City, where he served as district commander for 12 years.
