Gainesville city leaders approve name change for Office of Equity and Inclusion

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - On Thursday, city commissioners approved a name change to the department, now called Office of Equal Opportunity.

State law makers banned the use of taxpayer money on DEI policies earlier this year. The name change is in compliance of the law. The vote passed unanimously, with the absence of Commissioner Duncan Walker.

City commissioners first discussed the name changes on July 16.
