Cammack cuts ribbon at Newberry’s new charter school

NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) - U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack joined the ribbon-cutting for Newberry Community School, a new charter school that has faced opposition from city leaders over the past several years.

Cammack, who represents North Central Florida, posted footage of herself touring the school ahead of its opening next week.

Groups in Newberry and members of the Alachua County School Board have fought the conversion of the school to a charter model for years. The effort comes to a head with the school bell set to ring Monday morning.
