GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office will begin enforcing school zone speed limits through automated cameras starting Monday.

Drivers traveling 11 miles per hour or more over the posted school zone speed limit will receive a $100 fine by mail. The citation will not add points to a driver’s license and will not affect their driving record.

Deputies said the cameras exist to protect children in the community.
