New exhibit coming to Matheson Museum

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A new exhibit coming to the Matheson Museum in Gainesville will explore the history of the Matheson family and their connection to slavery.
The display is called ‘Chains of Steele: Money, Power, and Influence’.

It will focus on two ancestors of Gainesville’s Matheson family, Augustus and Augusta Steele.
The exhibition opens Wednesday, August 19.
