TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Captial Bureau) - The end is in sight for Florida’s primary election with voters across the state casting some of the final early votes.

Early voting is set to end this weekend, with the actual election day set for Tuesday.

GOP gubernatorial hopeful James Fishback cast his early vote in Madison on Friday, making a tongue-in-cheek joke about bringing his ID.

“Thank you for a good race. Thank you for the opportunity to compete alongside you. I’ve said from the very beginning, I am not running against anyone. I am running for the people of Florida,” Fishback said. “I wish them all the best, complete and total success over the next couple of days.”

The civic importance of this election transcends party lines, with Democratic Lt. Governor hopeful also highlighting the importance of voting at FAMU on Thursday.

Florida politics:

Early voting sites are open all across Florida, often at county courthouses, schools or other areas.

“We are reaching out all across the state. This is such a diverse state, such a complex state,” Graham said. “We’re reaching out everywhere we go. But the reality is, it’s about the policies.”

In terms of who will win, experts say predictions haven’t changed much.

“At least, I haven’t seen any signs that the upsets that might happen will happen. That doesn’t mean they won’t.” Aubrey Jewett, an associate professor at the University of Central Florida said.

It is too late to register to vote for the primary, so if you haven’t registered already, you can’t vote. But there is still time to register for the general election in November.
