Woman jailed without bond nearly 3 years after deadly Alachua County DUI crash

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A 45-year-old woman is in the Alachua County Jail without bond following her arrest Wednesday in connection with a deadly DUI crash that occurred nearly three years ago.

Tiffany Sams made her first appearance Thursday, according to authorities.

State troopers say Sams was driving an SUV that struck and killed a motorcyclist on I-75 south of the Newberry Road exit just after midnight on Aug. 29, 2023.

Investigators say her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
