GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A convicted felon in Gainesville is serving a four-year sentence in federal prison on drug and gun charges.

Prosecutors say he was caught trying to buy what they call a “machine gun conversion device.”

Justice Department officials say 20-year-old Damorie Miles was sentenced after entering a guilty plea.

Court records show he would message people online for drug sales and wanted to buy a device to modify a gun to fire automatically.

Miles was found with more than 600 grams of marijuana during his arrest.
