SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) - A child died at an unlicensed child care operation in Smyrna, authorities said.

Smyrna police officers responded to a medical call on Lake Farm Road involving the death of a child.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services said the provider is under a joint investigation by the Department of Children’s Services and law enforcement.

No arrests have been made, and officials have not released details about the circumstances of the death.

The case follows other recent allegations involving unlicensed child care operations in Middle Tennessee.

In May, two women were charged after infants were hospitalized with unexplained injuries following care at an alleged unlicensed Antioch day care.
