UF President Bell removes H-1B job posted ‘without authorization’ following criticism
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - University of Florida President Stuart Bell announced that a job posting for an H-1B financial analyst position had been removed after the listing was exposed for contradicting state policy.
Gov. Ron DeSantis praised Florida public universities for eliminating programs he said prioritize foreign workers over young Americans, specifically calling attention to H-1B visa hires over the weekend.
Conservative journalist Chris Brunet responded, pointing out that UF had posted a filing for a notice of intent for an H-1B financial analyst on Monday.

The university responded Wednesday with a statement from UF President Stuart Bell, who said the filing was not authorized.
Back in March, the state’s Board of Governors passed a year-long H-1B visa hiring pause until Jan. 5, 2027.
