MICANOPY, Fla. (WCJB) -People dressed in chicken costumes took part in the “Squawk About Sara” chicken run and walk along 223rd Street in Micanopy to keep attention on the disappearance of Sara Ebersole, who went missing more than three years ago.

Sara’s family says 223rd Street is connected to the suspect’s travels while Sara was in his vehicle.

Participants walked, jogged and ran up and down the road, hoping to bring more attention to her case.

Family still seeking answers

Sara was reported missing in March 2023. More than three years later, her family is still looking for answers.

Sara’s sister, Michele Tullis, said the turnout was small but showed the fun and enjoyment Sara would have had if she were not missing.

“I think the chicken walk run with the turnout we’ve had, even though it’s a small turnout, she has a lot of people here to show the fun and enjoyment Sara would have had if she wasn’t missing right now,” Tullis said.

“Sara was a fun, loving person and she was spontaneous, but her disappearance was not because of her own actions. She is the victim. It’s because of someone else’s actions that she is missing today.”

Tullis said events like this help keep Sara’s name and story in the community.

Questions about the route

Tullis said the family does not know the path Tyronne Morman traveled with Sara.

“Where Tyronne Morman drove Sara, it’s a simple question that he’s being asked, but he’s pled the fifth so we can’t get him to explain to Marion County where he drove her,” Tullis said. “So we just simply do not know the path he traveled.”

Sheriff’s office on scene

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office also had deputies on scene. The agency said they were there to make sure the event went smoothly and that no laws were being broken.

Sara’s family has not given up on getting answers.
