Jake made his debut in the sportscasting world in March 2021. For almost two years, he was the weekend sports anchor for WGEM-TV in Quincy, IL.
You would think broadcasting was his number one dream. He had to take care of two things first. Jake would dismiss his acting dream in college and change his major. Also, forget about the NFL by dropping 50 pounds after his high school football career ended. For good reason.
Jake was a graduate of St. Cloud State University in 2009. However, he followed a detour sign to the United States Air Force. From 2012-2015, he was a member of Security Forces at Whiteman AFB. You won't find it on a map and your GPS will put you in the middle of nowhere.
After a medical discharge, he would graduate from Illinois Media School in 2016 located in Chicago, IL. He worked for the Region Sports Network in Indiana doing play by play and reporting. In 2019, he graduated from the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting at Full Sail University
Jake started his career at WGEM-TV in Quincy, IL where he was introduced to the Tri-States leader in Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. He would learn how to cover sports like competitive go karting. Two weeks into his job, he was sent to Springfield, Missouri to cover a high school basketball championship. He was also part of regional, district and state championships in football, baseball, golf, basketball, and volleyball. Jake would also share award recognition for Best Sportscast, Best Sports Team in all three states.
Jake is a Midwesterner at heart (even if he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii). He is at WCJB-TV to tell stories around the North Central Florida area and keep you updated on everything with the Florida Gators.
