Kevin launched his television career in Alaska, spending four years as Sports Director at KFXF / KXD in Fairbanks.

Like many young boys, Kevin Wells grew up dreaming of becoming a professional athlete. However, those aspirations were shattered in the 5th grade, when Kevin gave up a soul-crushing home run to his elementary school gym teacher during the annual students versus teachers softball game. So, it was on to broadcasting!

Kevin attended Syracuse University where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1999.

Kevin launched his television career in Alaska, spending four years as Sports Director at KFXF / KXD in Fairbanks. It was there that he learned about sports that were totally foreign to him, like college hockey, cross-country skiing, and sled dog racing.

In 2003, Kevin took a job at KTUU in Anchorage and spent the next 13 years at Alaska’s number one station. In 2010, he was promoted to Sports Director and began overseeing KTUU’s sports coverage of everything from high schools, to college, to outdoor adventure events like the Iditarod. Kevin has also earned multiple Alaska Broadcasters Association awards for Best Sports Story and Best Sportscast.

Now, after living in Alaska for 19 years, Kevin is trading in his goose-down parka for shorts and sunglasses, As Sports Director at WCJB TV 20, he is entrusted with keeping Gainesville informed and up to date on all things Gators, as well as the local high schools.
