1 killed, 6 students injured after pick-up crashes into school bus in Hernando County
The driver of a pick-up was killed in Hernando County on Wednesday morning after crashing into a school bus, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities say six children on the bus were treated by fire rescue officials and taken to local hospitals. FHP troopers say the children suffered minor injuries.
There were a total of 48 children on the bus at the time, on their way to Winding Waters K-8 school.
The crash happened near the intersection of Bourassa Boulevard and Commercial Way. Troopers say the truck driver failed to stop when the bus did and ran into the back of it.
The sheriff's office says the roadway will be closed for several hours.
