2 bicyclists injured in Alachua County hit and run

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver in a hit and run that injured two bicyclists around 7 pm Tuesday, in Alachua County.

Troopers say silver-colored late model Honda or Toyota, was heading west on Northwest 46th Avenue, two bicyclists were heading the same direction and the driver ran into them from behind.

The driver hit both riders and then turned onto County Road 235. 28-year-old Ashley Applewhite was taken to UF Shands in critical condition. The other biker reported minor injuries.

The report says the vehicle is likely missing a side-view mirror and may have front hood damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper W.F. Schrader at 352-955-3181 or the Florida Highway
