35th Annual Windsor Zucchini Festival draws hundreds
People traveled to Windsor from around the state Saturday for the 35th Annual Windsor Zucchini Festival, which is the major fundraiser for the Windsor Fire Department.
Hundreds of people descended on the community to enjoy fried zucchini, zucchini ice cream and other delicious treats. The Windsor Fire Department had its vehicles on displays, with families enjoying free shuttle rides on tractors.
"Just getting the camaraderie here, getting people out, being able to have some good public relations with them and tell them what we're about and what we do for the community is great for our organization," said Windsor Fire Chief Richard Shirk.
A local committee takes months every year to plan the festival. Vendors from around North Central Florida also come into town to display their goods.
Visit Gainesville is also a partner helping to put on the Zucchini Festival.
