GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – An artist is bringing a massive optical illusion to north central Florida.

Shoppers at Butler Plaza will be able to experience the 3D mural.

Dutch artist Leon Keer is painting a 3D Gator toy on the north wall of the JOANN fabric store located at 3202 SW 35th Blvd. in Gainesville.

Keer is one of the few artists in the world who can paint in 3D and 4D. His style of art is called Anamorphic.

He said he paints toys to inspire people to continue to tap into their inner child.

“The reaction from the residents is already happening,” Keer said. “People pass by and take photos and they ask questions about the techniques I use and what kind of colors come in. It’s already an interactive motion there."

Butler Plaza partnered with GNV URBAN ART to bring Keer to Gainesville to paint the mural.

He will figure out the title of the mural after it is completed in about 5 days.
