LifeSouth Community Blood Centers' 9th annual 'What Colors do you Bleed' blood drive is a competition between the University of Florida and the University of Kentucky to see which school can collect the most blood ahead of next month's basketball game.
The competition runs through Friday, January 18, and is always one of the busiest times for LifeSouth, bringing in over 1300 donors every year.
UF collected the most blood last year, but this year, Kentucky's looking to take back those bragging rights.
"It's usually very close. The first day one team might start off ahead, but then the other team quickly catches up. So it is back-and-forth and it is very close, and I will tell you that Lexington is very motivated to come back and beat us this year," said Laura Bialeck from LifeSouth.
Everyone who donates during the competition will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets to the Gators basketball game against Kentucky on February 2.
