ACPS investigating Tuesday's series of fights at Eastside High School

According to an Alachua County Sheriff's Office arrest report released Wednesday morning, Darien Lawson, 18, and Brandyn Lewis, 18, were arrested in connection with the fights at Eastside High School.

The report said the fights broke out at approximately 12:20 p.m. between rival gangs "4K" and "1K" after weeks of tension.

Lawson was charged with affray, disrupting school function, and resisting law enforcement without violence.

The school resource officer and ASO deputies separated and handcuffed the fighting students.

The students involved have been suspended for eight days.

The school resource officer was there, but due to multiple fights breaking out, the administration and the resource officer requested help, and 15 to 16 ASO units responded to restore order.

Officials say all students not involved were sent back to class and a soft lockdown was put in place.

Alachua County Sheriff's Office confirmed 16 people were arrested with charged including affray, resisting arrest and disruption of school function.

No weapons were involved, and there was no evidence of any further violence.

Deputies remained on campus until the end of the school day.
