UPDATE: Teen arrested in murder of Gainesville man indicted

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- State Attorney Bill Cervone announced on a press release that the Alachua County Fall Term Grand Jury indicted Kynorri Akeal Morris, 15, for the unlawful shooting death of Joseph Green.

Morris will be transfered from the North Florida Regional Juvenile Detention Center to the Alachua County Jail under no bond.
Alachua County Sheriff's deputies arrested a teenager in the murder of Joseph Green, 62, who was shot and killed November 10th in Gainesville.

ASO announced the arrest of Kynorri Morris, 15, for the murder.

"Before, I was just hoping that they find the killer before the killer killed again, but when I found out it was a 15-year-old, I really broke down.," Reginald Green, the victim's brother, said.

Morris was taken into custody last week, but deputies continued gathering evidence before making the arrest public.

"The most important thing is the detectives did their job and got him off the streets before he killed again," Reginald Green said.

On the night of the murder, deputies found Green lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was near his home off Southwest 62nd Terrace in the Linton Oaks neighborhood.

Deputies say tips from the community helped them make the arrest but Reginald says: "They need to figure out where he got that gun from."

"If it wasn't for the folks in the community taking a vested interest in Mr. Green, we never would've been able to identify and develop the leads that we needed to make the arrest in this case," Lieutenant Brett Rhodenizer said. "People knew him and they were as shocked as we were to find out what happened that night."

Morris faces a murder charge and is in the Alachua County Juvenile Detention Center.
