Acorn Medical Clinic closing due to funding shortage
After 45 years, the Acorn Medical Clinic in Brooker is closing its doors due to a funding shortage.
The non-profit clinic serves about 950 patients, who are mostly low-income.
Acorn employees are asking current patients to make an appointment before the end of October. They say they'll help them find a new clinic in the area that fits their needs.
"The good news is that in this area, even in the last six to ten years, there's been a lot of primary care sliding-scale clinics that have opened, so there is a place for our patients to go," said Acorn Executive Director Candice King.
Although the medical clinic is closing, Acorn's dental office next door will remain open.
