GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- Adjunct professors at Santa Fe College are calling on the administration and the board of trustees to agree to a union election date and their right to vote. Students, staff, and professors held a rally at the college in support of union rights for adjunct professors.

The rally started at three o'clock Tuesday, right outside where the board of trustees would hold their afternoon meeting. Protesters then entered the meeting room at four, when the board's meeting began.

"It's time for us to get together and organize so that we can have a voice in not only money but work conditions and we deserve as much security and say in ..How things are where we work and the future of our school," Kate Murray an adjunct professor Santa Fe.

The college's recent hiring of an outside law firm to block the vote for the union is what upset some and now they're hoping for a chance to be heard.
