Alachua County Fire Rescue to give away smoke detectors and how to install them

North Central Florida firefighters are making sure everyone has a smoke detector.

Alachua County Fire Rescue is hosting a presentation to teach people about smoke alarms and provide them to anyone who needs one.

on Northwest 6th Street in Gainesville starting at 9 a.m. Monday morning followed by an on-site home visit and smoke detector installation demonstrations.

Anyone who needs a smoke detector can stop by any Alachua County fire station. Once a request has been made, a representative will set an appointment to install the detectors within a week. Requests can also be made by emailing smokealarm@alachuacounty.us
