GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - After 40 years of service, Alachua County Property Appraiser, Ed Crapo, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020.
Crapo was first elected in 1980. He has since been re-elected for 10 consecutive terms.
He says the greatest accomplishment of his career has been getting to know the community.
"It's been very rewarding to get to know people in all those different walks of life and all the different places in Alachua County. So, it's been a joy to serve and have the honor of being chosen," said Crapo.
Crapo says he is not endorsing a replacement for his position.
He says he hopes his announcement will open the door to anyone passionate about serving the community.
