ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) – The Alachua County School Board is taking its charter school fight to the State Supreme Court.
The decision comes after a state law passed in 2017 that requires public school boards to fund charter schools. The law also removes the school board's capacity to supervise charter schools.
A circuit judge rejected all of the challenges in the lawsuit, which were brought by 13 districts. The first district court of appeals unanimously upheld that ruling.
Now school district lawyers have filed a notice to appeal to the high court.
