Alachua County Sheriff's Office awarded grant to start Bicycle Pedestrian High Visibility Enforcement Initiative

ALACHUA, Fla., (WCJB) -- The Alachua County Sheriff's Office has received a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation for a Bicycle Pedestrian High Visibility Enforcement Initiative.

The grant is for $7,336.80 and will be available for use through May 17th, 2019.

The purpose of the grant is to develop several effective and community-wide high visibility enforcement operations in areas with the highest amount of serious or fatal crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists.

Another goal of the project is to increase awareness of and compliance with traffic laws that protect the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists on Florida's roads.
