A new initiative will bring scientists into classrooms in Alachua County.

The county will start the "Scientists in Every Florida School" program.

The idea is to connect scientists with every K-12 public school in the area.

Alachua County is 1 of 5 counties in Florida selected to participate in the first three years of the program.

The program is led by staff at the UF Thompson Earth Systems Institute at the University of Florida.
