Alachua Co. Humane Society flies out animals after Hurricane Michael

A group of cats, dogs, and even a rabbit took flight today from Gainesville Regional Airport because of Hurricane Michael.

The Alachua County Humane Society helped to take 66 cats, 24 dogs, and 1 rabbit from Suwannee and Taylor County animals shelters and put them on a plane to Pennsylvania.

The animals were pulled out of the shelters last Tuesday to help make room for pets lost or without shelter because of Michael in the panhandle.

The Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team flew the animals out to help the overburdened shelters in our area, and will distribute them between 6 rescue groups across the Keystone state.
