Alachua Police: Man met with teen for sex
A Gainesville man was arrested in Alachua Sunday night after police said he met a teen for sex.
According to the arrest report, Roosevelt Bernard Phillips Jr., 33, and a teenager were found in a car parked in a field near the Hal Brady Recreation Complex.
When police arrived, they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the car.
Phillips initially told police the teen was his cousin and they met up to talk. The teen told police that Phillips wanted him to perform sexual acts, and showed police sexually explicit messages.
Phillips admitted he met with the teen for sexual acts but did not engage in them before police arrived.
Phillips was charged with traveling to meet a minor, indecent exposure, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and transmission of harmful material to a minor. He was booked at the Alachua County Jail with bond set at $80,000.
