America's Escape Game is an interactive adventure game. Teams of up to 8 players are trapped in a themed experience for an hour. In order to successfully get out, teams must work together to solve problems and find clues. (Of course, in theory, you can open the door and leave at any time - but what's the fun in that?)

The game experience is located in Downtown Gainesville next to the Florida Theater. Professional basketball player, Patric Young, who played for the Gators from 2010 to 2014 wanted to bring the franchise to Gainesville after enjoying the game with his basketball teammates.

Young says the three themed rooms, Asylum, Pandemic, and Crisis 1600 are unique to each other and are not exactly the same as those in other franchise locations. So even if you've mastered the theme in Orlando, you'll still have a new challenge closer to home!

In Asylum teammates have to learn to escape a corrupted mental institution. Teams are immersed in an apocalyptic world in Pandemic where they need to cure a deadly virus before becoming contaminated. For players looking for a less frightening experience, Crisis 1600 brings players into the white house. They have to save the country and the world by stopping enemy missiles.

In mid-Summer, a fourth room will give teams an opportunity to compete against each other to escape. Plans for a sports-themed waiting area are also in the works with a bar also planned.

Young says the escape room is great for team building exercises, birthdays, groups of friends or couples, or for meeting new people. Rooms hold about 8 people.
