Fla. (WCJB) --

An expansion to the Armed Guardian Program in Florida will now become law.

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the legislation allowing for teachers to volunteer to carry a firearm in school districts where the current Armed Guardian Program is already in place.

Teachers would have to undergo police-style training and a psychiatric evaluation.

Both Bradford and Gilchrist counties began participating in the Guardian program last year.
